James Belanger, DVM

Dr. James Belanger, our Chief of Staff, grew up in Hollis and currently resides in Amherst, New Hampshire. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and earned his DVM degree from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the Hillsborough County Veterinary Hospital team, Dr. Belanger practiced at Woodland Animal Clinic in East Freetown, Massachusetts, Hollis Veterinary Hospital, in Hollis, New Hampshire, and Handle with Care Veterinary Hospital, in Derry, New Hampshire. His special interests include geriatric medicine & pain management and quality of life management.

Outside of work, Dr. Belanger enjoys spending time at the ocean, hiking and biking, being with family and friends, especially his grown daughter and son, weight lifting, and healthy life choices with a goal of completing a marathon or triathlon. He also cares for an 11-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named, Scottie and a three-year-old beagle cross named, Contessa.

Dr. Belanger moved to Amherst in 1998 and raised both his children through the Amherst/Souhegan school system. He supports public schools and looks forward to remaining active in the school and community with job fairs and community activities.
