Kayla Smith

Veterinarian

Dr. Kayla Smith earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at Purdue University. Her veterinary experience extends beyond traditional companion animal medicine and has included working with penguins, developing and testing ELISA-based diagnostic assays, and contributing to published infectious disease research investigating potential vectors involved in the transmission of dengue, Zika, and chikungunya.

In clinical practice, Dr. Smith has particular interests in ophthalmology, dermatology, surgery, and avian health. She brings a curious analytical approach to medicine and especially enjoys recognizing patterns, interpreting clinical findings, and finding practical, individualized solutions for her patients. She values clear, honest communication and helping pet owners feel informed and confident in their pets’ care.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Smith enjoys archery, creative projects, and spending time with her eclectic collection of pets—particularly her backyard chickens.
